This Week In The Commonwealth

Jul 29, 2023
“Our National Guard makes Virginia a place we are all proud to call home. Thank you for answering the call – the call to protect Virginia and our nation on this critically important mission,” - Governor Glenn Youngkin.

The Education Governor

This week, Governor Youngkin joined Fox & Friends from the Juke Box Diner in Manassas to discuss how Virginia is taking action to combat the decades of progress lost due to the actions of progressive liberals in Virginia during the COVID pandemic. Governor Youngkin is standing for parents and students instead of bending to the will of the teacher’s unions!

“The kids belong to parents,” Governor Youngkin said. “Not to the state, not to politicians. They belong to parents.”

Celebrating Our Incredible Nation!

This week, all around the Commonwealth and the United States, we gathered to celebrate the birth of this incredible Nation.

Governor Youngkin participated in Leesburg’s parade and had an absolute blast!

Securing Our Southern Border

On Thursday, Governor Youngkin visited and prayed with the members of the Virginia National Guard who will assist Texas in a coordinated effort alongside other freedom-loving states to help stop the flow of fentanyl and humanitarian crisis, save lives, and secure our southern border.

Homehistory

Years before he served as Commander in Chief or as the nation’s first President, while a colonel in the Virginia militia, a young, regalia-laden George Washington was painted by Charles Willson Peale.

Reimagined by Virginia artist Hattie Elizabeth Burdette, this 1932 painting now hangs in the Mansion Dining Room, reminding us of our Founding Fathers who devoted their lives to establishing our country’s freedoms. To see this painting for yourself, visit the Executive Mansion for tours on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 AM to 2 PM.
